Mary Livesay's Toffee Squares

The Most Fabulous Christmas (or Anytime) Cookies!

1 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

1 egg yolk

1 tsp vanilla

2 cups flour

¼ tsp salt

1 large Hershey’s Symphony almonds and toffee chocolate bar (10 ½ ounce)

½ cup nuts, chopped fine

Cream butter. Add sugar, egg yolk, vanilla and blend. Add flour and salt; beat until mixture is soft and pliable. Spread thin on 10 x 15 cookie pan. Bake in 350˚ oven for 20 minutes. Chop chocolate in food processor or chop very fine - spread chocolate over hot cookies as soon as pan is removed from oven. Sprinkle nuts over chocolate layer and press in slightly. Cut in 1 inch squares when cool. Enjoy!
