Kathleen says, "I really enjoyed this recipe Uncle Phil told us about when we were together for dinner at the reunion and recommend it to all of you who have so many tomatoes that you don’t know what to do!"

TFK’s tomatoes

Peel and chop as many tomatoes as you like (one huge one per person?) and cook them in your cast iron frying pan over medium heat until they collapse and  their juices are almost gone – then add baking soda (1/2 tsp per pound?). When the bubbles subside, serve it up in a bowl add enjoy!!

I suppose some folks will want to doll it up with a bit of butter – or basil or who knows but it is super just the way I heard it from Uncle Phil and it took me right back to Central Avenue with Grandpa standing over the stove cooking up a treat!"
